A MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR
"Christopher Young is a musical chameleon, a master magician with a seemingly unlimted number of sonic caros up his sleeve. Filmaker friends of mineare often suprised when the realize Chris composed the score for a particular movie because the were sure they'd pined his down based on some other entirely different sounding and equally excellent score of his. What ever composition in his vast bod of work has in common though, from the modernist terror of The Exorcism of Emily Rose to the breezy jazz of Rounders, is an unbounded creativity, an unrivaled sense of melody and remarkable attention to craft. So when it came time to choose a composer for Priest, a movie that combines Western, Sci-Fi, Action and Horror genres in equal measure, I knew I needed someone who could unify the film's disparate influences into a singular and compelling musical identity, I needed Chris Young.
Some of the most exciting moments I had making the film occured while sitting with Chris at his studio. We would be talking about how the feeling of scene might be conveyed musically and something would ignite in his eyes. With childlike enthusiasm he'd race over to the grand piano and start pounding out a melody, turning to me with a devilish grin to say, "Like this?". Tha initial burst of inspiration would quickly lead to others and before I knew it, I'd be listening to gorgeous new cue for the film. That's how it is working with Chris. Epiphanies are an every da occurence.
Now, after many months of hard work, that series of epiphanies has led Chris to create one if his finest scores, the epic and soulful soundtrack for Priest. I hope you enjoy it as much I do."
