Young and Raimi team up on Drag Me to Hell
04/10/2008  Christopher Young and legendary director Sam Raimi will team up on Drag Me to Hell which marks their third collaboration as director and composer after The Gift, Spider-Man 2 & 3. Drag Me to Hell tells the story of an unsuspecting young woman (Alison Lohman) that becomes the recipient of a supernatural curse cast upon her by an older Eastern European woman who was defied and humiliated by others. Justin Long (Live Free Or Die Hard) and Jessica Lucas (Cloverfield) complete the cast of the film which is produced by Raimi's Ghost House Pictures and is scheduled to come out 2009.
 

  Richard Kirk Award for outstanding career achievement
04/10/2008 Christopher Young will receive the Richard Kirk Award for outstanding career achievement at BMI's annual Film & Television Awards on Wednesday, May 21 in Los Angeles. Named in honor of former BMI Vice President and film & television department founder Richard Kirk, the Richard Kirk Award is bestowed on composers who have made significant contributions to the realm of film and television. As the 2008 honoree, Christopher Young joins an elite list of peers that includes George S. Clinton, Harry Gregson-Williams, Jerry Goldsmith, Thomas Newman, Michael Kamen, Mark Mothersbaugh, Danny Elfman, Alan Menken, Mike Post, Lalo Schifrin and John Williams.

Sleepwalking - Soundtrack Preview
02/29/2008 Chrisyoung-filmmusic.info offers his readers an exclusive preview of Christopher Young's latest musical effort to Sleepwalking. Sleepwalking is the story of James Reedy (Nick Stahl), a simple man who leads a less than ordinary existence. When his sister Joleen (Charlize Theron) seemingly abandons her daughter Tara (Anna Sophia Robb) with him, Reedy steals away with the girl and takes to the road.   Christopher Young will tell you 'A Tale of Two Sisters'

Christopher Young has been hired to score A Tale Of Two Sisters directed by Charles Guard and Thomas Guard. The movie is a remake of Janghwa, Hongryeon (2003) which based on a classic Korean folk tale. The 2008 version starring Elizabeth Banks (Spider-Man 1-3) and David Strathairn (The Bourne Ultimatum and Good Night, and Good Luck.) centers on modern-day teenage sisters Anna and Alex Rydell who return home from a mental hospital only to find their recovery unraveling because of a cruel stepmother, clueless father and a lingering ghost. A Tale Of Two Sisters is currently in post-production and set for a release this spring.

  Christopher Young to hunt down a serial killer - 'Untraceable'

After having finished the recording of Sleepwalking in Prague this august Christopher Young has just jumped into his next movie Untraceable directed by 9-time Emmy Award winner Gregory Hoblit (Fracture, Hart's War and Primal Fear). The thriller tells the story of FBI agent Jennifer Marsh (Academy Award nominee Diane Lane) who is tasked with hunting down a serial killer who posts images of his victims on the Internet. The movie is currently in post-production and set for a release on January 25th, 2008.

  Christopher Young to score 'Sleepwalking'

Christopher Young has a new project in the pipeline - Sleepwalking starring Academy Award® winner Charlize Theron, Dennis Hopper, Woody Harrelson and Anna Sophia Robb tells the story of an 11-year old girl's struggle to come to terms with her mother's abandonment. The drama was written by Zac Stanford (The Chumscrubber) and is directed by newcomer Bill Maher.  Christopher Young started working on that project in mid June.
 

 

SONCINEMAD 2007 -  A Summer In Madrid With Christopher Young
07/11/2007 The second Soncinemad Film Music Festival held in Madrid over the first weekend of July was a monumental success and a fantastic experience for filmmusic fans from all over the wolrd. Jum-packed with two concerts and several seminars by famous composers, one of the higlights was the masterclass with Christopher Young (Soncinemad 2007's Honorary President) on friday 29th where he talked about his scoring process for Spider-Man 3 and presented several cues from his score to the audience. One the same day original scores by Gabriel Yared, Christopher Gordon, Carles Cases, Ángel Illarramendi and Christopher Young were performed by the Carlos III Chamber Orchestra during the opening concert at the Kinépolis theatre, Europe's largest cinema. Juan Manuel Alonso conducted a terrific suite of themes by Christopher Young, featuring The Shipping News, The Hurricane, Murder In The First and Spider-Man 3.
