Masterclass in Madrid: Photo essay
7/18/2006 The first Soncinemad Film Music Festival held in Madrid over the first weekend July was a great success. Jum-packed with two concerts and several seminars by famous composers, one of the highlights was the masterclass by Christopher Young on friday June 30th that I was honoured to announce. During the seminar at the Palacio de Congresos de Madrid Christopher Young talked about his passion for filmmusic, his life and the composition process in general. Besides this he showed the train sequence from Spider-Man 2 that featured his music and highlighted several key moments. He also used the seminar to present his score for Ghost Rider to the audience for the first time by showing the prologue and main titles sequence of the upcoming movie.
On saturday, a CD signing was arranged at the Yelmo Cineplex Ideal, Madrid where fans were able to get their favourite albums autographed by Christopher Young.  A small photo essay can be found here.

An Unfinished Life gets a CD-Club release
6/26/2006 Varèse Sarabande will release Christopher Young's rejected score to An Unfinished Life on July 17, 2006. An Unfinished Life was supossed to be Young's second collaboration with director Lasse Halström after The Shipping News. Due to some editorial changes in the movie, the producers felt that the score should go in a different direction to what was originally recorded so Young's score was replaced in the final moment. Fortunately Varèse Sarabande was able to save that score for the fans of Young's music and will release it in their CD Club series. The CD contains 50 minutes of orchestral music that was recorded in London plus 30 minutes of used and unused themes for solo piano. As that release is limited to 1000 units order it now before it will be sold out.
